Wolf Creek Pass
I was literally amazed at the views going up to and through Wolf Creek Pass. I had no idea of the majestic mountains views ascending into the Weimanuche Wilderness so close to home! So close, that is, in comparison to North Idaho, the Tetons or Alaska! This is another borrowed photo and doesn't really tell the story at all.
At the immediate north side of the pass we turned west a couple miles to Big Meadow Campground where we stayed for three days. Big Meadow reservoir had a lovely hiking trail all the way around and was a popular fishing spot. We were REALLY fortunate to get the absolute best campsite in the whole campground!!!
It was #10 and a "TEN" it was! Not only did it have a peek view of the lake and its' only trail straight down to the lake, it had a lovely little creek running right along side the campsite! It was back in the far corner so we were not surrounded by campers. (I managed to get some photos with my camera plugged in to the generator.)
A three mile windy road above Big Meadow Reservoir was Shaw Lake. This was a serene, high mountain lake teaming with trout not the least bit interested in Phil's lures but beautiful!
