How I spent Valentine's Day

It started out pretty energetic. I was up before daybreak and in the gym at 7:30 a.m. After a good workout of walking and weight lifting I decided to take in the "weekly" doorbuster sale at the mall. (Need a new career? Go into the door repair business.) I hadn't been shopping since New Years so I thought I'd see if there were any good sales left. Well that ended up taking the rest of the first half of the day. I came home with three tops and a shell, a very lovely pair of shoes and some earrings. Seventy percent off? Now, THAT's my kind of sale!

Phil's morning was taken up with his monthly men's ministry breakfast. It is held in a small sandwich shop downtown. They had a great time with fifteen men!

I was able to get a nice nap in the afternoon. There was a wonderful basketball game on and I was able to sleep on the couch with screaming crowds and referee whistles in the background. It's my fav napping atmosphere! Meanwhile, Phil drove his "chick magnate" to town to do some Valentine shopping.

I made the traditional Valentine chocolate pie while he napped. Then we were off for a nice evening of dining. We decided some ribs sounded good so we headed for the Rib Crib. Fortunately, there was no wait while Dakotas and Red Lobster had people standing out in the cold waiting. Unfortunately, the guests at the table next to us comprised of two families: four adults and five very young children. I shake my head in wonder at what people are "not" thinking! None the less, the meal of baby back ribs and catfish was delicious. The regional manager came to see how our meal was and ended up standing and chatting with us for about twenty minutes! No joke. He even bought our dessert - blackberry cobbler a la mode! That took up the rest of our evening, enough that we decided against a movie we'd planned to rent. I'm not much about movies, anyway. I'm usually mad before I leave the rental place and disappointed by the end of the movie, wondering why we wasted our money. When we got home there was a DELIGHTFUL little video on our blog of our precious granddaughter dancing at Disneyland! I'll take that anyday.

Actually, Valentines' started the night before as we attended the Valentine's banquet at the church.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful Honey. He has been my sweetheart for going on forty years! We have such great times together. Soooooo, how was YOUR Valentines' Day?
