Green Bay

We visited Lambeau Field at Green Bay.

Sault Ste. Marie

The highlight of our recent trip to Michigan was camping our new fiver on the banks of the St. Marie's River and watching the freighters pass. We would then follow them one mile down to the locks and watch them proceed through the locks to and from Lake Superior. Looking across the river was the Canadian side of the river. It was quite an experience!!!

Our new fiver is surrounded on three sides in the end with windows. This is where the dining room is. It was such a delight, that chilly fall morning to sit and the table, read my Bible, drink hot coffee and watch the ship go by! I could have stayed there a week!

This particular vessel is the Arthur B. Anderson. It just so happens we were there as it passed through the Locks. The Arthur B. Anderson is known for for it's role in the attempted rescue of the sinking of another vessel during a storm in 1971. this is an amazing story and I had seen the documentary on PBS this past year.

I regret that I do not have a photo of one of these 700-1000' vessels squeezing into these locks with only a couple (literally) feet clearance on each side and quickly and seemingly effortlessly being lifted to the level of the upper lake but my camera was not charged that morning. It was quite an amazing site!
